Tennessee beginning security Edrees Farooq will miss the 2026 season after sustaining a torn patellar tendon on Friday.
A college spokesman confirmed the extent of Farooq’s proper knee damage to ESPN on Saturday.
“We stand with Edrees and assist him as he begins the restoration course of,” the Tennessee soccer program stated in an announcement. “We all know he’ll proceed to make a robust management influence on our crew this fall.”
Farooq, a 6-foot, 202-pound junior from Columbia, Md., left the follow discipline in an ambulance on Friday and was transported to the UT Medical Middle in Knoxville, Tenn.
Farooq completed second within the Southeastern Convention with 4 compelled fumbles and second on the crew with two interceptions together with 76 tackles whereas beginning all 13 video games for Tennessee in 2025. He returned an interception 45 yards for a landing in a 56-34 win at Kentucky on Oct. 25.
He performed in all 13 video games as a freshman for the Volunteers in 2024 and contributed 13 tackles.
Tennessee opens the season at residence in opposition to Furman on Sept. 5. Head coach Josh Heupel’s squad is coming off an 8-5 marketing campaign in 2025.
