Alas, in his first outing at heavyweight, Alex Pereira was overwhelmed fairly handily by Ciryl Gane. Regardless of this, he’s at the moment ranked third within the division by the official UFC rankings.
In a latest interview, Rizvan Kuniev, who faces Alexander Volkov at UFC 333 tonight, had a couple of ideas on the Alex Pereira state of affairs.
Rizvan Kuniev’s view on Alex Pereira at heavyweight
“I believe Pereira is any person that may be a very good battle for me as a result of he’s a really huge media title and for me, particularly for me, a win over him would actually do so much in media for myself.”
“So far as I’m involved, I believe it’s AI that does these rankings as a result of it doesn’t actually make a lot sense,” Kuniev mentioned. “I believe the rationale why he’s No. 3 is as a result of they’re all his accolades being a champion in two weight lessons earlier than this one.
“However to go on No. 3 in heavyweight after one loss, I believe that’s very unusual as a result of not less than give him a pair extra fights. No one actually even understood what Alex Pereira stands for in heavyweight. No one actually noticed what he can do. So to present him No. 3 proper off the bat simply appears off. I believe not less than a pair extra fights, after which we are able to see. However simply to have them at three could be very unusual.”
